Hornby Island Fossils

Hornby Island, located off the east coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, is known for its fossil-rich Cretaceous rocks. The island exposes sediments deposited roughly 70–80 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous, when much of the region was covered by a warm, shallow coastal environment.

Hornby Island fossils are valued by collectors not only for their scientific interest, but also for their connection to British Columbia's ancient geological history. Well-preserved specimens can make excellent additions to a regional fossil collection and provide a tangible record of life from the Late Cretaceous.
